Part Two: Planning Your Expedition
The Chaos Wastes are an ever-changing wilderness, full of mystery and danger. No two journeys through its bounds are wholly alike. Alas, the Ubersreik Five will have to venture out many times before realising their goal.
To navigate the ever-changing Chaos Wastes, the Olesya has ‘acquired’ (don’t ask) an enchanted map, penned by the notorious madman Marius Holseher. Through arcane artifice, this map charts the possible paths through the wilderness.

At each stage of their quest, the Ubersreik Five vote on the best way to proceed with their Expedition. Each journey is unique.
While our heroes might visit some of the same locations on different Expeditions, the shifting paths within the Chaos Wastes mean that those locations will appear in a different order each time. Indeed, even the journey through those locations might prove different on new visits. Moreover, the Chaos Gods forever scry the Chaos Wastes in search of entertainment. Wherever their gaze falls, the mortal world recoils, adding fresh dangers to a land already overburdened with them.
For all its imprecision, Holseher’s Map provides all the information the Ubersreik Five need to plan their next move. This includes the locations their pilgrimage will carry them through, the enemies that will likely be encountered and whether or not one of the Chaos Gods is taking an unusual interest in the region. Often, the path of pilgrimage will fork, offering a choice of two possible routes. When this happens, the Ubersreik Five must choose which to risk …
Shrines
Though Expeditions are gruelling, they are not without respite. Along the way, the Ubersreik Five are certain to encounter godly shrines where they can seek blessings of wholesome gods in order to gird themselves for the journey ahead.
We’ll talk more about these in a later part of the Pilgrim’s guide – for now, simply take solace in the fact that they exist.
Arenas of the Worthy
Assuming the Ubersreik Five do not meet with failure, they will at last reach an Arena of the Worthy in which they must prove themselves against a tide of foes. Should they triumph, they are one step closer to unlocking the path to the Citadel of Eternity itself!
